Our Own Luxury Fleet

We operate our own phinisi yachts — Komodo Signature and Komodo Prestige — with dive decks, compressors, tenders and full board for remote routes.

Lombok Specialists, Indonesia-Wide

Real, condition-aware knowledge of Lombok and the Gilis, plus Komodo, Bali, Sumbawa and Raja Ampat — matched to your certification, season and pace.

Honest & Licensed

Licensed (KBLI 79120), based in Denpasar Bali. Indicative pricing by quote, honest dive-site conditions, and we never guarantee wild marine life.

How It Works

From enquiry to entry, in three steps.

01

Tell us your dive trip

Your dates, certification level, region or route, and whether you want a liveaboard cruise, private charter, day diving or a course.

02

We design your itinerary

We match the right route, season and vessel — Lombok, Komodo, Bali or Raja Ampat — and confirm an indicative quote.

03

Dive in with Komodo Luxury

You board your guided liveaboard or private phinisi and dive the best of eastern Indonesia with our crew.

Lombok diving means two things: easy, colourful reefs and turtles around the Gili Islands, and using Lombok as your launchpad for serious liveaboard diving across Komodo and eastern Indonesia. On this page I’ll walk you through how we dive Lombok itself, then how we connect you onto our luxury phinisi liveaboards from Lombok to Komodo, Raja Ampat and beyond.

Lombok Diving: Who We Are & How We Operate

This site, LombokDiving.com, is operated by Komodo Luxury — an Indonesian liveaboard specialist founded in 2015, part of Juara Holding Group Limited, licensed under KBLI 79120 and based in Denpasar, Bali.

We own and operate a small fleet of luxury Indonesian phinisi liveaboards, including:

  • Komodo Signature – luxury phinisi for scheduled and private dive charters
  • Komodo Prestige – luxury phinisi for tailored itineraries across Komodo and eastern Indonesia

Komodo Luxury has received TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice awards from 2022 through 2025. Those awards are based on verified guest reviews across our Komodo and Raja Ampat operations.

From Lombok, my role as Cruise Director is simple:

  • Match your certification, experience and expectations to the right trip
  • Plan safe, seasonally smart itineraries across Lombok, Bali, Sumbawa, Komodo and Raja Ampat
  • Run smooth operations on board Komodo Signature and Komodo Prestige

We focus on real diving conditions — currents, seasons, marine life patterns — not marketing fantasy. Wildlife is wild: mantas, hammerheads or whale sharks are never guaranteed, and advanced sites need the right certification and comfort in current.

For personalised advice, you can reach our planning team any time on WhatsApp +62 811-3823-875 or email sales@komodoluxury.com, or plan your trip via our contact page.

Interactive: Choose Your Dive Region

Use Lombok as your starting point, then build out your Indonesian diving:

  • Lombok & Gili Islands – turtles, reef sharks, relaxed reef dives, easy conditions for most of the year.
  • Bali – macro in Tulamben and Amed, mola-mola (seasonal) and mantas around Nusa Penida.
  • Sumbawa – quieter reefs, occasional whale shark encounters (seasonal, not guaranteed).
  • Komodo National Park – iconic currents, mantas, dragons on land, one of the world’s top drift-dive destinations.
  • Raja Ampat – peak biodiversity, soft corals, schooling fish, usually best by liveaboard.

Each of these regions has its own destination page from this hub. Pick your region above in your browser navigation, or plan your trip and we’ll map out a multi-region route by WhatsApp together.

Interactive: Choose Your Cruise

From Lombok we typically run and coordinate several core liveaboard patterns with Komodo Luxury:

  • 6–7 Day Lombok–Komodo
Lombok → Gili Islands → Sumbawa → Komodo National Park → Labuan Bajo.
  • 8–10 Day Bali–Lombok–Komodo
Bali → Lombok → Sumbawa → north & central Komodo → Labuan Bajo.
  • Return Komodo Expeditions (Labuan Bajo–Labuan Bajo)
Often combined with fast-boat or domestic flight connections from Lombok.
  • Private Phinisi Charter
Full-boat charter on Komodo Signature or Komodo Prestige, tailored to your group’s schedule and experience.

Tap any cruise option on our site to open a WhatsApp enquiry directly to +62 811-3823-875. We’ll confirm:

  • Your dates and flexibility
  • Number of divers/non-divers
  • Certification levels and recent dive experience
  • Preferred cabin type and budget range

Indicative price ranges (last verified June 2026):

  • Scheduled shared cruises: roughly USD 300–550 per diver per night, depending on season, cabin type and itinerary length.
  • Private full-boat charters: often from about USD 4,000–10,000 per night depending on vessel, routing and inclusions.

Exact quotes vary by dates, availability, trip length and any charter customisation; we’ll provide a firm quote when you contact us.

Lombok & Gili Islands: Your First Step into Indonesia Diving

Lombok scuba diving is usually the smart entry point for an Indonesia trip: good visibility, warm water and manageable conditions for most levels, with a few serious sites for experienced teams.

Gili Trawangan, Gili Air & Gili Meno

The three main Gilis off northwest Lombok are famous for relaxed reef dives and regular turtle encounters.

Typical profiles (indicative, conditions vary):

  • Depth: Commonly in the recreational range, many sites suitable for Open Water divers.
  • Conditions: Generally easy, with occasional moderate current.
  • Certification: Ideal for Open Water and Advanced Open Water; frequent training dives.

Common highlights:

  • Turtles: Green and hawksbill turtles are seen very often.
  • Reef sharks: Whitetip and blacktip reef sharks cruise slopes and walls.
  • Macro life: Nudibranchs, shrimps and small critters in sandy patches and around coral bommies.

This is where we like to:

  • Refresh skills after a long surface interval
  • Complete courses needed before advanced liveaboards
  • Introduce new divers to Indonesian coral reef systems

Belongas Bay & The Magnet: Advanced Lombok Diving

On the south coast, Belongas Bay is the serious side of Lombok diving, especially the offshore pinnacle often called “The Magnet”.

Key points (indicative):

  • Certification: Minimum Advanced Open Water strongly recommended, with 30–50+ logged dives and proven comfort in current and waves.
  • Conditions: Exposed, can have strong current, swell and surface chop; entries and exits may be challenging.
  • Season: Hammerhead encounters are most commonly reported in the drier months, around mid-year (often roughly July–September), but are never guaranteed.

Possible encounters:

  • Scalloped hammerhead sharks (seasonal, not guaranteed)
  • Schooling pelagics, barracuda and trevally
  • Occasional other oceanic visitors depending on season

We do not recommend Belongas for new or rusty divers. Before suggesting it, we’ll ask directly about:

  • Your most recent drift dives
  • Comfort in negative entries and blue-water ascents
  • Experience in waves and chop

If you’re unsure, we typically suggest warming up in the Gilis first, or focusing on less exposed sites.

Lombok to Komodo Diving: Why Use Lombok as Your Gateway

Lombok to Komodo diving by liveaboard lets you see the full transition from calmer reefs to the higher-energy currents of Komodo National Park.

Typical route logic:

  1. Lombok & Gilis: Skill-check and reef dives, turtles, relaxed currents.
  2. Sumbawa: Quieter reefs, occasional pelagics and (seasonally, in some areas) possible whale shark sightings — never guaranteed.
  3. Komodo National Park: Drift dives, mantas at key cleaning stations in season, dense fish life.

Who Lombok–Komodo Liveaboards Are For

Lombok liveaboard itineraries into Komodo are best suited to:

  • Certified divers with solid buoyancy and recent experience, ideally Advanced level or higher.
  • Photographers wanting a mix of macro, wide-angle reefs and pelagics.
  • Small groups or families who want to combine easy dives with occasional advanced options (we can split groups by experience on different dives).

For first-time liveaboard guests, using Lombok as a gentle start allows us to:

  • Check weighting, trim and SAC rate on easy dives
  • Introduce drift techniques in mild current first
  • Gradually build up to higher-energy sites inside Komodo

Komodo National Park: From Lombok Reefs to Serious Currents

Komodo is one of Indonesia’s most dynamic dive regions, known for strong currents, large fish and manta encounters.

Dive Conditions & Safety in Komodo

Key realities:

  • Currents: Sites range from mild to very strong, with occasional downcurrents or eddies in exposed areas.
  • Certification: We recommend Advanced Open Water or equivalent, with experience in drift diving.
  • Seasonality: Diving is year-round; conditions and manta activity vary by month and by site.

On board Komodo Signature and Komodo Prestige, we plan each dive as a team:

  • Site choice and direction based on tide tables and real-time checks
  • Group splits by certification and experience (e.g. experienced vs. more conservative groups)
  • Briefings covering entry, exit, expected current, and backup plans

We always treat published site depths as indicative, not promises, because thermoclines, tides and visibility can shift the effective working depth of a site day to day.

Marine Life Highlights (Not Guaranteed)

Across Komodo you may encounter:

  • Manta rays at feeding or cleaning stations in season
  • Reef sharks (whitetip, blacktip; occasionally grey reef in some areas)
  • Schooling fish – fusiliers, surgeonfish, snappers, jacks
  • Macro life – nudibranchs, frogfish, seahorses, shrimps, crabs

All wildlife sightings are opportunities, not guarantees. We plan itineraries around typical seasonal patterns and historical data, but the ocean decides the details.

Beyond Komodo: Raja Ampat & Eastern Indonesia by Liveaboard

From the same operational base, Komodo Luxury runs liveaboards beyond Lombok and Komodo:

  • Raja Ampat – West Papua’s marine reserve, renowned for coral diversity and fish biomass.
  • Eastern Indonesia routes – certain seasons may include exploratory or transition trips; availability changes year to year.

Raja Ampat highlights:

  • Reefs: High coral cover, soft and hard corals, seamounts and reefs with intense fish life.
  • Conditions: Typically warm, variable current from mild to strong depending on site.
  • Best accessed: Almost always via liveaboard for range and site variety.

From Lombok, we often:

  • Start or end your Komodo cruise to align with domestic flights onward
  • Advise connection routes from Lombok/Bali to Sorong for Raja Ampat trips
  • Build multi-region itineraries for multi-week Indonesia dive holidays

For current Raja Ampat schedules or eastern Indonesia expeditions on Komodo Signature or Komodo Prestige, please plan your trip or contact us on WhatsApp.

Choosing the Right Trip: Day Diving vs Liveaboard

Lombok offers both shore-based day diving and multi-day cruises. Here’s a simple comparison:

Option Best For Dive Range Pros Considerations
Lombok & Gili day diving New divers, training, casual holiday dives Primarily Gili reefs, some south Lombok options Flexible, family friendly, easy logistics Limited to sites within day-boat range and local conditions
Lombok–Komodo liveaboard Certified divers wanting variety & adventure Lombok, Gilis, Sumbawa, Komodo National Park Max time underwater, remote sites, flexible scheduling Set departure dates; need comfort living on board
Komodo-only liveaboard (Labuan Bajo–Labuan Bajo) Experienced divers focused on high-energy sites North, central and south Komodo depending on trip More dives inside the park; short transfers Requires separate domestic travel to Labuan Bajo
Raja Ampat liveaboard Intermediate–advanced divers seeking biodiversity Central/north/south Raja Ampat depending on cruise Biggest variety of reefs & fish biomass Longer travel; typically higher trip budgets

If you’re unsure which fits your level and schedule, message us on WhatsApp +62 811-3823-875 with:

  • Your certification level
  • Number of logged dives
  • Rough travel dates and trip length

We’ll recommend concrete options, not a generic list.

Dive Planning: Seasons, Conditions & Certifications

Seasonality Around Lombok, Komodo & Raja Ampat

Season patterns are indicative; exact conditions vary year by year.

  • Lombok & Gilis: Diveable most of the year. Visibility can shift with local weather and plankton blooms.
  • Belongas Bay: Typically targeted in drier, calmer months. Hammerhead activity is commonly reported mid-year, but sightings are never guaranteed.
  • Komodo: Year-round diving. Some months favour clearer water in the north, others for plankton and mantas in selected sites.
  • Raja Ampat: Main liveaboard season generally focuses around the drier, calmer months in that region, though some operations run year-round.

We schedule our itineraries to line up with these regional trends and adjust actual daily plans on board based on real-time conditions.

Certification & Experience Recommendations

As a rough guideline:

  • Open Water:
    – Gili Islands, calm Lombok reefs, many Bali sites
    – Selected calmer Komodo sites with close supervision
  • Advanced Open Water:
    – Most Komodo dives
    – Some Sumbawa and Lombok drift dives
    – Appropriate Raja Ampat sites, depending on conditions
  • Experienced Advanced (30–50+ dives):
    – Belongas Bay and similar exposed pinnacles
    – High-current Komodo channels or seamounts
    – More challenging Raja Ampat sites with strong flow

We may still suggest easier dives at times, even for experienced divers, if conditions spike. Safety and enjoyment over bragging rights.

Onboard Experience: Komodo Signature & Komodo Prestige

Both Komodo Signature and Komodo Prestige are traditional-style Indonesian phinisi yachts, refitted as modern luxury dive liveaboards operated by Komodo Luxury.

Life on Board

On a typical dive cruise:

  • Dive schedule: Often up to 3–4 dives per full day, subject to conditions and safety priorities.
  • Groups: Small groups by similar experience level where possible.
  • Gear: Full rental sets available by request (book ahead so we can prepare correct sizes).
  • Non-divers: Snorkelling and land excursions (e.g. Komodo dragon treks) where the itinerary allows.

Cabin categories, exact layouts and onboard facilities vary by vessel; we’ll send you a detailed spec sheet and recent photos as part of your quote.

Safety & Briefings

On every cruise:

  • Full boat and safety briefing on arrival
  • Detailed dive briefings with maps, signals and backup plans
  • Oxygen, first aid and communications on board
  • Surface marker buoys required for all divers on current-prone itineraries

If you haven’t used an SMB or reef hook before, we’ll show you and practice in calm conditions first.

Pricing, What’s Included & How Quotes Work

Indicative Pricing (Last Verified June 2026)

  • Private phinisi charters (Komodo Signature or Komodo Prestige):
Often from about USD 4,000–10,000 per night
    – Varies by vessel, group size, itinerary complexity and dates.

FAQs: Lombok Diving & Liveaboards

Is Lombok good for diving?

Yes. Lombok and the Gili Islands offer warm water, generally easy conditions and plenty of turtles, making them a strong choice for both new and experienced divers. The Gilis are ideal for relaxed reef dives and training, while south Lombok sites like Belongas Bay offer much more advanced, exposed diving in the right season. We often recommend starting in Lombok to refresh skills before heading to Komodo or Raja Ampat.

Can I dive Lombok and Komodo in one trip?

Absolutely. Many of our guests combine a few days of Lombok and Gili diving with a 6–10 day liveaboard into Komodo, or join a Lombok–Komodo cruise that starts near Lombok and ends in Labuan Bajo. You can also dive Lombok first and then connect via domestic flights or boats to a Komodo-only liveaboard. We’ll help you choose the route that fits your schedule and experience.

When is the best time to dive Lombok and Komodo?

Diving is possible year-round in both regions, but conditions and marine life focus change with the seasons. Lombok and the Gilis see diveable conditions most of the year, with visibility influenced by local weather. Some advanced Lombok sites like Belongas Bay are typically targeted in calmer, drier months. Komodo is effectively year-round, with different times favouring certain areas or manta activity. Tell us your possible dates and we’ll outline what to expect then instead of giving a generic “best month.”

How do I book a Lombok liveaboard or Komodo cruise?

Contact Komodo Luxury directly via WhatsApp at +62 811-3823-875, email sales@komodoluxury.com, or use plan your trip on this site. Share your dates, number of travellers, certification levels and approximate budget. We’ll match you with suitable scheduled departures on Komodo Signature or Komodo Prestige, or design a private charter itinerary. Once you’re happy with the plan, a deposit secures your booking and we support you with logistics before you travel.

Can beginners join a liveaboard from Lombok to Komodo?

Open Water divers can join some Lombok–Komodo itineraries, but we strongly recommend recent experience and comfort in the water first. Certain Komodo dives involve moderate to strong currents, so we plan site choices and groupings carefully. Newer divers may start with a few days around the Gili Islands, possibly complete an Advanced course, and then join an itinerary with a focus on appropriate sites. Safety and enjoyment come first; we’ll always be honest if a particular trip is too advanced for your current level.
