Is Lombok good for diving?

Yes. Lombok and the Gili Islands offer warm water, generally easy conditions and plenty of turtles, making them a strong choice for both new and experienced divers. The Gilis are ideal for relaxed reef dives and training, while south Lombok sites like Belongas Bay offer much more advanced, exposed diving in the right season. We often recommend starting in Lombok to refresh skills before heading to Komodo or Raja Ampat.

Is Lombok diving suitable for beginners or families?

Gili Islands diving and snorkeling suit beginners and families well, with calm, accessible reefs. The Komodo crossing and its current-swept sites are better for certified, more experienced divers. Mixed groups can split activities — some diving Komodo’s stronger sites while others snorkel or do gentler reef dives. Share ages and experience levels so Komodo Luxury can balance the itinerary.

Do I need to be a certified diver?

For most Lombok and Komodo dive sites, yes — an Open Water certification or higher. Several Komodo sites have current and are better suited to Advanced or experienced divers. Non-certified travellers can often join discover-dive or snorkeling options on the same trip. What dive sites does a Lombok-to-Komodo trip cover?

Lombok-area diving centres on the Gili Islands and northwest reefs. The Komodo leg targets sites such as Batu Bolong, Castle Rock, Crystal Rock and manta aggregation areas like Karang Makassar (Manta Point). Exact sites depend on tides, current and weather on the day, so itineraries list likely sites rather than a fixed guarantee for each one.

Can I dive Lombok and Komodo in one trip?

Absolutely. Many of our guests combine a few days of Lombok and Gili diving with a 6–10 day liveaboard into Komodo, or join a Lombok–Komodo cruise that starts near Lombok and ends in Labuan Bajo. You can also dive Lombok first and then connect via domestic flights or boats to a Komodo-only liveaboard. We’ll help you choose the route that fits your schedule and experience.

Can beginners join a liveaboard from Lombok to Komodo?

Open Water divers can join some Lombok–Komodo itineraries, but we strongly recommend recent experience and comfort in the water first. Certain Komodo dives involve moderate to strong currents, so we plan site choices and groupings carefully. Newer divers may start with a few days around the Gili Islands, possibly complete an Advanced course, and then join an itinerary with a focus on appropriate sites. Safety and enjoyment come first; we’ll always be honest if a particular trip is too advanced for your current level.

How long are the diving packages?

Options run from single-day Gili dives to liveaboard cruises of three to eight nights crossing from Lombok toward Komodo and Flores. Most divers choosing the Lombok–Komodo combo book four to seven nights to fit in the marquee Komodo sites with sensible surface intervals. Komodo Luxury can extend or shorten the route around your travel dates.

Where do trips depart from and end?

Day diving departs from Lombok and the Gili Islands. Liveaboard combos commonly cruise from the Lombok side and disembark in Labuan Bajo, Flores (or run the reverse), since Labuan Bajo is the gateway to Komodo National Park. Komodo Luxury arranges airport and harbour transfers; confirm your exact embarkation and disembarkation points in the final itinerary.

Can you combine Lombok diving with Komodo and Raja Ampat?

Yes. Komodo Luxury curates multi-region itineraries linking Lombok, Komodo and Flores, and can extend toward Raja Ampat as a separate liveaboard leg. Because Raja Ampat sits far east of Komodo, that combination is built as a longer, higher-budget custom trip with its own flights and boat, quoted individually rather than as a fixed off-the-shelf package.

How much does a Lombok diving package cost?

As of June 2026, indicative per-person pricing runs from roughly USD 700 for short Gili-and-reef combos to USD 12,000 for premium multi-week charters, with most Lombok–Komodo liveaboard packages landing around USD 1,800 to USD 5,000. What drives the price of a Lombok diving trip?

Four main factors: boat and cabin category (shared vs. private en-suite, standard vs. premium phinisi), trip length, season (peak July–September costs more), and group size. Park fees, fuel, certified guides and full board on liveaboards also shift the number. Day diving around the Gilis sits far below a multi-day Komodo crossing.

What is included in a Lombok diving package?

Standard inclusions are certified dive guides, tanks, weights and boat transfers. Liveaboard combos add cabin accommodation, full board, and typically national park fee handling. Equipment rental (BCD, regulator, wetsuit, computer), nitrox, alcohol, and flights are usually extra. Are park fees and permits included?

Komodo National Park charges entry, conservation and activity fees that change periodically and are often quoted separately from the dive package. Many liveaboard combos bundle park fee handling into the price, but not all do.
